Production

The Production section is where you track jobs through your shop floor — from the moment they're approved for print through to finishing and installation.

The Production Board

Click Production in the top nav. Jobs land here once they've been approved in the Design stage and move across three columns:

Column What it means
Print / Cut Job is queued for printing and cutting
Laminate Printing is done; job is being laminated
Production Final assembly, finishing, and quality check

Drag a card to the next column as each step is finished.

What You See on Each Card

  • Customer name and job description
  • Where the job currently sits (Print / Cut, Laminate, or Production)
  • Due date — colour-coded so you can spot tight deadlines: the badge starts light blue when there's plenty of time and gets progressively darker as the deadline approaches, turning dark navy when overdue
  • Install date — shown if one's been booked; if not, a Book Install label reminds you to schedule it
  • Rush — a bolt icon on the card; fully lit when the job is flagged as urgent, faded when not. Click it to toggle
  • Star — click to mark a job as priority; starred cards sit at the top of the column

Moving Jobs Through the Shop

  1. A newly approved job arrives in Print / Cut.
  2. Once it's printed and cut, drag the card to Laminate.
  3. Once lamination is done, drag it to Production for final finishing.
  4. When the job is fully complete, open the work order and click Complete — it moves to Invoice and drops off the production board.

Tip

Each work order PDF has a QR code in the header. Scan it on the shop floor to pull up the live job in Substrate — no need to go back to a computer to check notes, files, or the latest status.

Jobs That Need Installation

If a job has been marked as needing installation, it will also have an Install step at the end of the production steps inside the work order. Mark it off when the installation is done before clicking Complete.

The Install tab at the top of the Production page lists every job that needs installation:

  • Jobs with a date booked show their install date
  • Jobs without a date show a Book Install reminder

You can set or update the install date directly from this tab — click the calendar icon on any row to pick a date without opening the full work order.

Check this tab at the start of each week to make sure upcoming installs are confirmed and your crew is scheduled.

List View

Click List near the top right to switch from the board to a table showing all production jobs at once. Useful when you have a lot of active jobs and want to sort or scan quickly.
